Initiative Un Arbol - Una Vida
In the spirit of sustainability, we plant trees together with the children. The campaign contributes to reforestation in the Arequipa region.

If you wish to make a tree donation for a funeral service, instead of, for example, flowers at the grave, we ask you to state in the name of which relative/friend the tree donation is being made. In this case, you as the donor will receive a card with a picture painted by the children of the Hogar de Cristo house.
The initiative was launched by a group from Arequipa. When reforesting, they use Quenua trees, which are part of the natural tree population in the region. In the tradition of the Indians, there is the ritual of performing a dance when planting. It is part of the cultural understanding that Mother Earth must be protected. The topic was dealt with in detail in the workshops of the Hogar de Cristo house in 2023. When this understanding of the knowledge of nature and the tradition of trees was revived, the first tree planting event with the participation of children and young people took place in spring 2023. Since then, this has taken place once a year with the children and they perform the dance ritual during the planting of the trees.
Hay Festivalito initiative
We support this event, which enables young people and children to take part in cultural activities through low-threshold access. This teaches children about their rights and politically neutral education, and shows them ways to improve their living situation and form an opinion on cultural and social issues.

JUNTOS initiative
The Hogar de Cristo house launched its own project. During the pandemic, sewing machines were purchased so that the young people and their parents could be taught how to sew protective clothing for the health sector. Another house has now been rented where the children's mothers learn to sew. There are regular orders, such as making T-shirts for the volunteers at the Hay Festival. Médicos Solidarios Initiative
During the Covid-19 pandemic we supported the Médicos Solidarios initiative. This took care of people affected by Covid in the health centers in Peru.
Polyclinic Initiative “Espiritu Santo”
Our circle of friends contributed a sum of EUR 25,000 to the construction of the clinic in 2013. As a result of our donation, a contract was concluded between the Friends of Arequipa and the Association “Policlinico Social Aleman Espiritu Santo” that guarantees free preliminary examinations and treatments for children who come to the Hogar de Cristo house.

Asociacion Hogar de Cristo Initiative
Our association finances the training/study of ten scholarship holders every year. We also help the house financially in the area of health care, with the purchase of equipment or tools for running the workshops, with house renovations and the implementation of various courses for the children.
